Jinnah’s Message

Message to the All Pakistan Educational Conference at Karachi from Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. 27 November 1947. “I welcome you all to the Capital of Pakistan” and wish you success in your deliberations, which I hope will bear fruit and practical results.

You know the importance of education and the right type of education cannot be overemphasized. Under foreign rule for over a century, in the very nature of things, I regret, sufficient attention has not been paid to education of our people, and if we are to make any real, speedy and substantial progress we must earnestly tackle this question and bring our educational policy and program on the lines suited to the genius of our people and vast developments that have taken place all over the world. Education does not merely mean academic education, and even that appears to be of a very poor type. What we have to do is to mobilize our people and build up the character of our future generations.

Chairperson's Message

We believe in multi- intelligence. It means everybody is intelligent and the deaf are also same; they need different approaches to show their potential and enhance their capabilities. The object of our school is to research those approaches, areas and methods which ensure sharpening their intelligence, and practicing the same; this is our mission..

To meet the objectives, we are not only formally educating the deaf from Nursery to Graduation level with multiple methods and total communication but also doing research in sign language, visual learning using technology and art. Art, sign Language, drama, computer technology and study trips are main areas of our methods of imparting education.

After realizing that many deaf children who couldn’t get formal education because deaf have no or little facilities for the education or mostly our false notions that deaf can’t be educated have deprived many deaf children from their basic right of education. JS Academy is the first school and only school in Karachi who took a step educating unschooled deaf. It is an afternoon project running successfully. We have educated many unschooled deaf children and some of them are merged into main stream school. One of unschooled children, Hashir Chandio is doing his graduation in regular program. Js Academy also invites unschooled deaf having no age restriction in afternoon program.

Providing the deaf with standard Pakistani Sign Language which is also possibly close to International Sign languages. For the purpose our school is engaged with Sign Language Research Project . It has published various Sign Language books and dictionaries .There are many books in pipe line also. The school also conducts sign language classes for the parents and the teachers and workshops for public awareness with deaf community. Recently the school has started workshops between deaf and hearing institutions aimed at bridging the gap between special children and main stream children. The school has been conducting workshops, get to gather, sports and learn together programs. .

JS Academy is devoted for bringing up deaf people to the level that everybody believes that they are equally efficient and competent. They are no more felt pity upon. They will be jobbed indiscriminately.

Principal’s Message

I am feeling proud to share the mission of Js Academy for the Deaf. It is to provide quality education to deaf people. We believe that the deaf are equally competent and efficient. They lack only one faculty of learning that is just hearing; otherwise they are equally intelligent. We believe in multi- intelligence. It means everybody is intelligent and the deaf are also same; they need different approaches to show their potential and enhance their capabilities.
